A BBQ restaurant in Colorado was under-fire for the last week or so. It was announced that they were going to celebrate their annual ‘white appreciation day.’ During this day, all white customers get a discount on their meal.
After a few signs were put on the windows of the store, social media quickly grabbed this story. Individuals throughout that area began complaining. They believe it is wrong to single one race out from the rest. These people also believe it makes white people look better than all other people.
The owners of the store have come out and apologized for this. They also wanted all people to know that this was something that was in place for many years. They did not start this just this year. The owners are also keeping the discount open for that day. However, all individuals are going to get a discount regardless of the color of their skin. This has calmed down the city. People were very afraid that an incident might happen similar to those in Baltimore and other places around the world.
What was strange was that a few African-American and Hispanic people came forth defending this day. These people stated that there is an entire month dedicated to Hispanics and an entire month dedicated to African-Americans, so there should be no problem with on day dedicated to white people. Many people in this region have their own opinion on this matter, and majority of these individuals are keeping their opinion to themselves.
